Brittany Griffiths

is an E-RYT 200/RYT 500/YACEP certified Hatha/Vinyasa/Yin yoga instructor based in her hometown of sunny San Diego, CA. In 2009, while pursuing a B.A in Global Studies at California State University Monterey Bay, Brittany initially embraced the physical side of yoga as a part of her conditioning for rock climbing. However, it was not long after taking her first few classes that she realized what had originally started off as a physical practice, evolved into a more intimate journey of self discovery and transformation…what she loves to refer to as a “work in”.

Eager to explore the deeper layers of the practice beyond the physical postures, accompanied by the strong desire to nurture and nourish relationship with self, Brittany felt a strong pull to travel to the source of the teachings and completely immerse herself in yoga and the land where it all began. Since 2011 Brittany has been traveling to India to study the teachings of yoga, deepen her personal practice and further explore the multi layered roots of the sacred practice that continues to transform her life on and far beyond the mat. This transformational journey all began in 2011 when she studied abroad at Christ University located in Bangalore, India. Here she enrolled in a wide variety of classes such as Women’s Studies, Yoga, Meditation, Indian culture, Spiritual Ecology, Sanskrit and Eastern Religions. It was this first journey to India in addition to her year of solo travel afterward, that became the catalyst for her transformation into a dedicated student of yoga, and soon to be teacher.

Following her graduation from CSU Monterey Bay, Brittany returned to India to complete a residential 200 Hour Traditional Hatha/Vinyasa yoga teacher training at Rishikesh Yog Peeth, studying under her teachers Roshan Singh E-RYT 500 and Deepti Kulshrestha E-RYT 500. Following the completion of her first training in 2014, she continued to evolve and expand both as a student and teacher. In May 2019 she embarked on her third pilgrimage to India, this time to complete a residential 300 Hour Multi Style Teacher Training Course specifically focusing on Yin Yoga, The Five Elements in Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine with Trimurti Yoga School located in the Himalayan hill station of Dharamsala. At Trimurti Yoga she studied under the guidance of dedicated teachers Karo Sharma E-RYT 500, Vamsi Krishna Gadwala E-RYT 500, and Bruna Floc E-RYT 500.

Since completing her first training in 2014, Brittany has gained over 2000 hours of teaching experience through weekly classes, workshops, special events such as retreats as well as teacher trainings. Her experience and knowledge is diverse, for she has studied, trained and guided classes all around the world in including India, Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and of course all throughout her home base that is the sunshine state of California.

For Brittany, Yoga has evolved into a way of life. For her it’s not something that you do, rather it’s something you embody. Whether it’s teaching weekly studio classes, guiding a three month yoga teacher training or even while just chatting with a friend over a warm cup of tea, Brittany’s intention is to support others in their journey and practice not only as a yogi on the mat, but more importantly as a fellow human being navigating the waves and tides of life, ebbing and flowing, moving and grooving through this cosmic dance we call life.

“As a teacher, my intention is to support, inspire and empower others to LIVE THEIR YOGA and EMBODY THE PRACTICE ON AND OFF THE MAT. I am passionate about sharing the sacred teachings and practices from the East in an accessible and approachable way. I enjoy helping others integrate the practices into their daily life in their own unique way, offering guidance and support along their journey of self discovery, Inner/outer transformation and expansion througH BEING vs doing.”

Whether you are a seasoned practitioner or stepping onto the mat for the first time, Brittany’s classes are supportive for all levels of experience and backgrounds. Her mantra “Meet yourself wherever you are from a place of trust and love” shines through in all of her offerings. Her classes are soulful, engaging and creatively themed, placing a particular focus on the intimate relationship between body, mind and breath. Whether it be a relaxing Yin Yoga class or a strengthening/balancing Hatha or Vinyasa practice, she is passionate about guiding students to explore the subtle moments and quiet spaces in between. Her classes provide a safe and supported environment for students to creatively explore the sacred space that is their body, heart and mind. She encourages students to enter the practice with eyes of love, compassion, curiosity and trust, inviting the breath to guide the movement, connecting them to the present moment as it unfolds.

While she teaches through a lens of postural alignment, she is also very much a big proponent of more organic, creative and intuitive exploration beyond the physical postures as well. For her, the combination of mindful and safe movement, deep connection with breath and loving awareness within each moment serves an intimate, personalized invitation from the external world into ones unique, inner landscape. With this in mind not only as a teacher, but first and foremost as a student herself, she is incredibly inspired to explore the intricate layers of what she refers to as “inner alignment”, which she believes is the heart of the practice. Regardless of the setting, students can expect Brittany to weave in her passion for yogic philosophy, the subtle energy body/Chakras, mantra/ chanting in addition to the transformational ancient wisdom revealed through Sri Patanjali’s Eight Fold Path.

In her words, “Yoga is much more than a set of physical postures performed on a mat, it’s much deeper than that. While the postures are an essential part along the path, they offer but a small glimpse into something far greater .

YOGA IS A CELEBRATION OF YOU AND YOUR SOULS UNIQUE, AUTHENTIC EXPRESSION. YOUR PRACTICE IS AN INVITATION TO GET TO KNOW YOURSELF DEEPER, TO EXPERIENCE LIFE THROUGH A WIDER LENS OF COMPASSION, TRUST, FORGIVENESS AND DEEP LOVE, BREATH BY BREATH, ALWAYS GUIDING YOU HOME.

For me, this multi-dimensional practice is a sweet loving reminder to remember and re-remember who I am. It symoolizes the eternal, infinite blossoming of the lotus flower that is the heart space, illuminating the sacred and divine nature and connection present within, through and to all things.
